Quarrying is the nucleus of the Road Metals operation and we work New Zealand-wide on contracts of every size.
Road Metals have permanent quarry sites at Clyde, Cromwell, Wanaka, Dunedin, Hyde, Oamaru, Twizel, Kaikoura, Rolleston and Christchurch.
We grew by servicing the lower half of the South Island, and expanded on that foundation to the point where we can now service the country from top to bottom.
Where we do not have a permanent quarry, the area can generally be serviced by utilising river based sites where regional council consent has been obtained for the use of Road Metals mobile crushing plants.
Located on West Coast Road, Yaldhurst, Road Metals have been operating this quarry for over 30 years. It is a major supplier to the Christchurch area supplying roading, drainage and concrete aggregates. A computerised weighbridge ensures load accuracy.

Located between Clyde and Alexandra in Central Otago the Earnscleugh Quarry was used by Road Metals to supply sand and aggregate for the construction of the Clyde dam. Following this, the site was used for the screening and disposal of 6 million tonnes of material excavated from the Clutha River. Today this site supplies various roading, drainage and concrete aggregates along with various landscaping aggregates to the local market.
Located in Hyde, Central Otago, this quarry supplies filter sand and concrete sand and has been a source of filter sand to the Macraes Gold Mine.
